Robert Gordon's glazes shift with the light and the wall behind them — Coast reads warmer against a pink wall, Storm softer against grey. Swap glazes in the tool as many times as you like and compare them side by side in the same spot.

Screens are never perfect. If you're between two glazes, order a real hand-fired ceramic chip of each — the same clay and the same glaze as the lights — and hold them against your wall, tiles and tapware. They're $3.30 apiece, and every one of the thirteen colours is available, including our exclusive Dusty Rose.

Every Robert Gordon light is cast, hand glazed and high-fired in the family's own workshop in Pakenham, on Melbourne's outskirts — a family pottery since 1979, still run by the Gordons today. Nothing is pulled off a shelf: your sconce is made once you order it, which is exactly why we wanted you to be sure of the shape and the colour before that first piece of clay is cut. Try it on your wall, hold the chip, then order with confidence.
